The Grill presents an interesting fusion of high quality Japanese BBQ meat with a Korean slant. Good attentive service in a minimalistic decor - good for dates and to impress. Being a meat lover (and in particular steak) I'm obsessed with seeking out and finding all the carnivorous haunts in town. After hearing several times about The Grill I decided to try it out. The restaurant is in the LG level of Mid Plaza so you need to be looking for it to find it – but clearly the restaurant has a loyal crowd of Japanese and Korean customers as after I arrived I saw groups continually come in (though they were all seated in private rooms). For a Friday night the restaurant was surprisingly empty but perhaps this was because most of the clientele were in the private rooms. We ordered a selection of grilled meats both marinated and unmarinated (you have to specifically ask if not marinated). I thought the quality of their cuts was amazing – and the taste and texture of the beef was very delicate but succulent with a “melt in your mouth” sensation. We also ordered a spicy cold noodle and a bibimbap. The spicy noodle had a spaghetti texture and was too sweet for me. The yukue bibimbap was okay but short on the sauce and mince. Overall I had a good experience but the restaurant is not cheap. For a more casual/ frequent BBQ meat-out I would probably go to a Korean BBQ. However for a special occasion like a date I would consider The Grill.
