0 reviewsCin Yen, another chinese restaurant in Pluit/PIK/Muara Karang area. I think Cin Yen is a steamboat place, I didn't try their steamboat menu. Instead, opted for their ala carte chinese food dishes.
Ambiance is awful, cramped with tables and chairs. The outer part area is messy and invested by mosquitos BUT that doesn't stop people from coming to Cin Yen. Service can be very slow, be more active and do things yourself (I forced the waitress to take my order and bring my own bill to the cashier)
The food is quite good. Overall, they serve good food with homemade feel. Their Fishball and Fishmaw Soup is one of the examples. The soup is simple, seafood broth with fishballs and maws, soupy delight! Another taste buds pleaser is their samcan goreng. Deep fried pork belly with lime herb chili, quite the charm. My fave of the night is Ayam Tangkap, deep fried chicken with curry leaves, chili, shallots and spring onions. Sooo fragrant yet crispy and sinfully delicious. I don't know why but many tables order their kwetiaw goreng. I ordered one too for the sake of finding out how it tastes. It tastes ok but nothing special tho.. One thing I notice, the kwetiaw is quite addictive in its simplicity, maybe that's what people like about Cin Yen's Kwetiaw.

0 reviewsCin Yen looks unassuming at first, but it promises comforting, homey Chinese food. Their food is fancier than your usual neighbourhood Chinese places, but you still get the belly-warming effect.
Their interior is simple with a few lanterns in front and simple wooden furnitures. It almost feels like we were just having dinner at a neighbour's home. They have two level of dining area, the downstairs one being the bigger. The service is OK, I guess, they take order well and are able to explain some of the menu.
Although one of their specialty is the steamboat, we were in for a heavier feast. Their Mie Hokkian has nicely cooked noodles, topped with shredded omelet and a few bits of plump prawns and quail eggs. The Kim Chun Tahu is a killer tofu dish; deep fried soft tofu with mysterious but oh-so-tasty brown sauce. Topped with juicy mushrooms, it is definitely a comfort food. The ayam tangkap is also praise-worthy. Super crispy fried chicken, with some fried pandan leaves and fried garlic. It's perfect as a snack, and make sure to use your hand for this morsels. A downside is just few of the chunks are a bit overcooked.
The twins: SamCan Cin Yen and SamCan Goreng are the glorious pork belly. If I am not mistaken, one is roasted while the other is fried. Both are super delicious, especially with the dipping sauces around. If you are a fan of bitter melon, try their Pare Telur Asin, stir fried bitter gourd with salted egg. The bitterness is offset by the creaminess of the egg.
